If you actually had to turn the heat on in your car this morning, you may realize the weather is turning. With the cooler weather people have more complaints of teeth sensitive to cold. This can be due to gum recession, which exposes the root surface. The root doesn't have as much insulation to protect against the cold. Sometimes, a toothpaste specific for sensitive teeth can help. But if not, we can usually cover the root surface with a bonded filling to protect against the cold. If you have any symptoms to temperature, biting pressure or sweets, you should let your dentist know. It could be something more serious than root exposure.
